The Smooth Jazz Mix
Hosted by Nick Hammond, from noon to 3 pm each Saturday afternoon
Nick was born and raised in England and was interested in music from an early age, listening to local pirate radio stations, some broadcasting from ships moored off the east coast of England. Everybody loved The Beatles, but Nick discovered a fondness for artists on the Motown label. He continued with his love of “black music” through the disco years and into the jazz-funk era of the late 70s and early 80s at which time he ran a successful mobile disco and also had residencies at various night-clubs.
Having been in Sydney for some 20-odd years, Nick is a sales manager with a supplier to the printing and graphic arts industry, and by night he is a great single dad.
On the Smooth Jazz Mix you will hear a blend of soul, r’n’b and contemporary jazz music featuring artists like Anita Baker, George Benson, Norman Brown, Brian Culbertson, Fattburger, Incognito, Boney James, Al Jarreau, Jeff Lorber, Maysa, Joe McBride, Pieces of a Dream, Shakatak, Luther Vandross, Grover Washington Junior and Peter White.
The Smooth Jazz Mix is a sophisticated blend of music that will ease you into Saturday afternoon… and it’s music you won’t hear on the commercial stations.
